Volunteer to Bring Community, Connection, and Gratitude to Local Seniors

Boca Raton, FL – Thursday, November 26, 2026 – Hosted by Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services (JFS) and the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County (JFSPBC), this annual event ensures that local seniors and adults with disabilities who have no family or a place to go for the holiday, can enjoy a beautiful holiday meal with traditional fixings, delicious desserts, and warm community spirit. Generously underwritten for many years by Etta and Raymond Zimmerman, more than 600 people will attend and celebrate together at The Eagles Center, on the Richard and Carole Siemens Jewish Campus, 9901 Donna Klein Boulevard in Boca Raton.

This event would not be possible without almost 300 volunteers who help make this banquet so special. From children ages 15 and up to adults, volunteers register in advance for a variety of opportunities. Positions needed are buffet station volunteers, table servers, greeters, and banquet helpers. Banquet helpers are there stepping where needed, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Younger children who wish to participate can decorate Thanksgiving cards and drop them off to the main offices in Boca Raton. Volunteers will arrive before attendees check in and receive further instructions.

In addition to celebrating the holiday, this event highlights the importance of addressing social isolation in older adults and the importance of community. “Thanksgiving is a time to come together, share gratitude, and celebrate community,” said Danielle Hartman, President & CEO of JFS. “For many of the seniors we serve, this event is more than just a meal. It’s an opportunity to connect with friends, build new relationships, and experience the warmth of being part of a community.

Volunteers who are interested in participating in this year’s banquet should register using the JFS website at https://ralesjfs.galaxydigital.org. Each opportunity will list how many spots are available. Students in high school are eligible to receive volunteer hours for their participation.
