WHERE GENEROSITY, TIME AND PERSONAL CONNECTION COME TOGETHER FOR CHILDREN.
For Boca West Children’s Foundation, philanthropy has always been about helping meet the critical needs of local children. But some of its most meaningful impact comes not only from the funds it raises and distributes, but from the people who personally become part of that mission.
They volunteer. They engage. They spend time with the children whose lives the Foundation works to improve.
And on December 5, that commitment will come to life in a particularly personal way.
At 8 o’clock that morning, approximately 150 children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boca Raton and Delray Beach will arrive at Old Navy to find an equal number of Boca West Children’s Foundation and community volunteers ready to greet them.
Each child will be paired one-on-one with a volunteer and given $75 to shop for new clothing and essentials.
For some, it may be a new pair of jeans, a warm sweatshirt or something special they have been hoping for. But the morning will be about much more than what goes into the shopping bags.
It’s about giving a child the simple joy of choosing something for themselves — and having someone there to share the experience.
It’s a scene that has played out year after year at the Foundation’s annual Holiday Shopping & Brunch. Photos from last year capture children and volunteers navigating the racks together, comparing choices, talking and laughing—turning holiday giving into something much more personal.
After this year’s shopping, the celebration will continue at Boca West Country Club with brunch, music, entertainment and plenty of holiday surprises. Children will receive gifts, and families will take home harvest baskets filled with food to help make the season more joyful.
But perhaps the most important gift of the morning is time.
A few hours spent one-on-one gives volunteers an opportunity to talk, laugh, encourage and get to know a child they might otherwise never have met. They aren’t simply helping select clothes. They are sharing an experience.
That is philanthropy made personal.
Because making a difference doesn’t always require writing a large check. It can also mean giving your time, sharing your attention and making sure a child knows there are people in their community who care.
That human connection has been part of Boca West Children’s Foundation from the beginning.
The Foundation was established in 2010 when members of Boca West Country Club wanted to find a meaningful way to give back to the greater community. From that desire grew an independent nonprofit organization that has since raised more than $22 million to fund programs addressing critical needs for local children and families.
Today, through 33 granted agencies, the Foundation helps support programs providing food, clothing, medical and dental care, education, safe shelter, summer camps and other opportunities that help children thrive.

Those dollars make tremendous impact. And the Foundation continues to be powered by people willing to give something else of value: their time.
The Holiday Shopping & Brunch brings both kinds of giving together. Financial support helps put clothes in shopping bags, gifts in children’s hands and food on family tables. Volunteers bring the personal connection that makes the experience memorable.
And there is still time to become part of this year’s morning.
Volunteers and donations are needed to help make the December 5th Holiday Shopping & Brunch possible. Give your time, make a financial contribution or help provide needed items for the children and their families.
Because when good gets personal, the gift is not only what you give.
It’s the connection you make.
